(= immunostimulatory complexes)Small cage-like structures that make it possible to present viral proteins to the immune system in an array, much as they would appear on the virus. Produced by mixing the viral protein with Quill A, a substance isolated from the Amazonian oak, in the presence of detergent. ISCOMS are being used successfully in vaccines.
